Achieve harmony.
- words by Lao Tzu.
Tao o Dao is a Chinese character that means “way.
Tao is a primitive force that is produced by all the natural forces of the universe and heaven. Tao is the way of heaven, a way of natural harmony; of Truth, Beauty and Justice.
Tao is a way of living , its not a God or a religion. It’s a way of balancing life. Yin And Yang, are an example of this philosophy.
The principles of Tao where formulated for the first time by symbols and words by ancient Chinese philosophers, around 5,000 years ago.
One of the first philosophers of Tao was Lao Tzu. He was the author of the famous book Tao Te Ching. He wrote the entire book on the principles of the universe, and then, he was followed by Confucius. Lao Tzu changed the history of China, providing new philosophies of life.
Today, Tao is still present in many of the alternative treatments. One of them is Acupuncture which comes from an ancient form of healing directly from China.
Tao is present in Chinese medicine, through treating the body, the energy, and the soul.
Yin and Yang
The concepts of Yin and Yang, come from ancient China and is the philosophy of life. It’s part of Tao, the universe and the matter.
Signifies two complementary opposing forces that form the universe, they create equal life, without Yin and Yang they would not be life in the universe.
Yin (the white color in the classic symbol of Yin/Yang), represents many things, such as feminine, receptive, matter, growth, water.
Yang (the black color in the classic symbol of Yin/Yang), represents masculine, active, happiness, bright, energy, fire).
Both Yin and Yang, are always in movement, creating the cycle of life. There’s never an opposing or negative thought between them, therefore, creating balance and harmony.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
TCM or Traditional Chinese Medicine is formed by the principles of Yin and Yang, the five elements and Qi (energy) and blood.
Chinese Medicine was created some 3,500 years ago in China, nowadays, mostly use as an alternative treatment.
Acupuncture, massage, and Chinese herbs, are part of Chinese Medicine.
TCM works by treating the human body and looking for signs of disharmony in the external and internal environment of a person, in order to understand, treat and prevent illness or disease.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used forms of healing in the world. Only in the last three decades has it become popular in the United States. Acupuncture is a technique which uses very fine needles. These needles are inserted into different points throughout the body. This will balance the flow of energy or Qi in the body (yin and yang), achieving harmony and restoring health to the mind and the body.
Several studies are being done related to Acupuncture and its effects in the body.
They had found that Acupuncture stimulates the body producing narcotic-like substances which are called Endorphins. Endorphins resemble opiates (creates an analgesic effect), in other words, work as “natural pain killers. By releasing endorphins through the body, the person experiences a sense of well-being.
Other studies suggest that the needles stimulate the immune system, endocrine system and blood, helping the body to heal faster.
